About GeoBiz Technology

We provide customized & formation-specific time-to-depth ties, fracture characterization, formation characteristics, and rock properties from acoustic data collected by existing wireline, MWD/LWD, or other sonic tools so that you can have a vendor and tool neutral evaluation and interpretation of your own data.

Description of Services

GeoBiz Technology set out with the mission of creating a completely interactive acoustic processing software that is able to process any service company’s tool waveforms, past or present, and is able to work seamlessly in the frequency, time, and amplitude domains. The first iteration was introduced 15 years ago.

What we do

Our technical experts use this software to provide custom acoustic solutions designed for the well instead of a standard or “off-the-shelf” solution that may or may not be suited for the geology.

The use of raw waveforms allows our consultants to ensure there are no errors due to automation of important, reservoir-specific analyses. Although standard processing methods or imaging technologies allow for some characterization, they often fall short in unconventional plays due to the inherent characteristics of the formation, the economics of the unconventionals, or the incline of the well.

Life at GeoBiz Technology

Our fracture identification processing method provides a cost-effective method for overcoming some of the difficulties associated with unconventionals. Once GeoBiz Technology receives a DLIS tape with the raw, sectored compressional waveforms, those waveforms are filtered and muted in the frequency and time domains. The data is then stacked and normalized prior to computing the RMS energy and identifying the RMS energy differential along the wellbore. This differential is then plotted. To find the fracture direction, the azimuth is computed using our proprietary model (optimized for use in both laterals and verticals) and plotted as well.
