Machine Shop Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Summary: The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for enhancing machining processes through testing and implementing new tool technologies, reducing machine setup and downtime and making improvements to the current tooling, development of standardized processes and practices that reduce waste and improve overall performance in all areas.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists manufacturing with Strategic Initiative activities including assisting in part selection, program creation, initializing test runs and supporting systems
• Identifies, tests, and implements new tool technology
• Improves current process in manufacturing, including but not limited to tool utilization, scrap reduction, reduction of operation costs, equipment utilization
• Reduces setup time at the machine by tool path optimization, efficient tool utilization
• Supports set-up reductions in machining
• Works inter-departmentally to identify opportunities to design, improve and implement work holding, as required
• Captures and reports all cycle time, and setup improvements
• Achieves individual and departmental improvement goals
• Leads 5S projects as part of machine optimization.
• Manages and tracks projects, supporting documents, and provide status updates as required
• Works with outside tool distributors and representatives to achieve departmental goals
• Works closely with programming, process engineering, and training to implement key machine shop initiatives
• Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or a Health and Environmental Safety team member
• Participates in proactive teams to achieve departmental and company goals
• Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

         • 4+ years of related experience in CNC Machining/Manufacturing Tool Technology experience required
         • Must have analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

         • Project management
         • Knowledge of mechanical operations
         • Understanding of tooling nomenclature
         • Knowledge of G-Code programming
         • Must have computer and technological skills
         • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form
         • Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR
         • Must pass background check and drug screen

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Work Environment:

• Office/Warehouse environment
• Frequent exposure to elevated noise and moving equipment
• Frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system
• Possible exposure to seasonal cold and heat
• Possible skin exposure to oils, greases, adhesives, paints, and other chemicals
• PPE required in specific areas

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive use of hands
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
