There are three primary qualities that differentiate one oil from another: Weight (API Gravity), Sweetness (Sulfur Content), and TAN count (Total Acid Number). While the ideal oil is light and sweet, there are over 100 different crude oils traded on the market today, including the benchmark crude oils of OPEC, WTI, and BRENT.
