Short-term rental company, Airbnb is reportedly planning to expand its suit of offerings beyond just short-term rentals, to include co-hosting, and “experiences”.
Co-hosting is a situation where someone owns a home, but cannot list it on Airbnb because they don’t have the time to manage the listing process. While another person has the time, but doesn’t have a home to list. With co-hosting, the company intends to connect these two groups of people and hence increase listings on its platform.
By connecting these two groups of persons, it will unlock a lot more inventory, CEO Brian Chesky said in a recent earnings call.
The company also plans to relaunch “experiences”, a feature it had previously teased in the past. With experiences, a guest can order extra things during their stay, such as outings, tours, massages.
The company wants to be known for more than just its short-term rental business.
