Chevron to Close Two Biodiesel Plants

Chevron Renewable Energy Group, a subsidiary of Chevron Corp., has announced plans to shut down two of its biodiesel production plants in the US, as a result of unfavorable or challenging market conditions. The plants are located in Ralston, Iowa, and Madison, Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin plant has been in operations since 2007 and produces 20 million gal/year of biodiesel, while the Iowa plant has been in operations since 2002 and produces 30 million gal/year of biodiesel.

After the closure of the two plants, Chevron will be left with 9 remaining biodiesel plants, seven in the US and two in Germany, which the company will continue to operate.
