About Atombeam

Data Handling is Too Complex

Data is fundamental to every business, but complexities in moving, securing, and storing IoT and machine data at the edge have added unnecessary costs and complexity to data handling, which impacts the real-time data that's driving edge computing. Atombeam streamlines data transmission, reduces costs, and empowers businesses to excel in the Edge Computing Era.

At Atombeam, we're at the forefront of a data revolution. Our innovative solutions redefine how data is managed, transmitted, and stored. Through industry-changing machine learning and artificial intelligence, we're unlocking new possibilities in efficiency, security, and connectivity.

Without an idea for the software, there is nothing to discuss. Without architecture, you just have an idea without substance. Without translating that idea into a product, the idea never lives in the real world. True satisfaction comes from moving from brilliant idea to a product that users rely on for critical data.

Charles Yeomans is an experienced entrepreneur and CEO with many years of experience in technology and finance. Asghar Riahi is a long-time technology product specialist with extensive experience in data storage and management at some of the largest technology companies in Silicon Valley. Asghar had developed a revolutionary idea for reducing the size of data that is the first truly new approach to the problem since the first data compression algorithms in the 1970s; his idea to combine codebooks with machine learning was truly novel.

Charles and Asghar live in the same town east of San Francisco and had known each other from their sons having been in the same Boy Scout troop. Asghar asked for a meeting and pitched Charles his idea. Charles was impressed and checked it out with patent attorneys, data scientists at Harvard and Stanford, and agreed to found a company to exploit this extraordinary idea. They formed Atombeam, raised initial funding and quickly added Josh Cooper, PhD, a brilliant mathematician and data scientist who is a professor at the University of South Carolina, as Chief Scientist.  Initial patents were filed, potential customers were interviewed for product market fit and a prototype was built.

Since its founding, Atombeam has been issued or allowed over 45 patents and several major companies have conducted successful proofs of concept trials.

Description of Services

How It Works

Atombeam revolutionizes data management by employing compaction technology, drastically reducing data size. Even the smallest messages, previously deemed impossible to compress, are efficiently handled by Atombeam. Its effectiveness is particularly pronounced with machine-generated and IoT messages, areas where traditional compression methods struggle due to their size. Operating at the bit level, Atombeam ensures optimal data reduction without compromising integrity.

Data as Codewords

Revolutionizing Real-Time Edge Computing

Data as codewords is the solution to the problems building real-time edge computing applications. Unlike traditional compression or encryption that operates on a file, Atombeam applies offline Al and machine learning to identify patterns in the data, and from this process we build a table of patterns and codewords that represent them. The coding process then replaces each pattern by its associated codeword, in a way that is always and completely lossless, so the actual data is never exposed but is fully and accurately represented. Even small messages that share a lot of data are "compacted" to achieve a very high level of efficiency. While the value of each codeword selection uniquely represents each source pattern, codewords are assigned randomly, not derived from the pattern. That means you cannot deduce patterns from codewords.

USE CASES

Atombeam Solutions

Atombeam’s data-as-codewords technology is applicable to every major vertical market. The following solutions include both vertical market segments where the technology is explained within special character and needs of the segment, and horizontal segments that apply Atombeam to missions important to multiple industry segments. Both classes of solutionS relate to the content presented in “How it Works” and “The New Edge”, which should be referenced in parallel with each of the solutions presented here.

What we do

Meet the Family of Atombeam Products

Atombeam is built for the acceleration of IoT data. Our products increase the security, the range and the effective throughput of IoT data transmissions, end to end, with no noticeable delay nor additional power drain. From an individual sensor, through wide area networks to storage, retrieval and AI model training and processing, maintaining security at each stage.

Neurpac

Neurpac reduces the size of individual machine generated datagrams by an average of 75% in near real time and is not limited by the constraints of compression, which can generally only operate on files that are over 1KB or more in size. It operates effectively on messages that are just 4 Bytes or more. This effectively increases the bandwidth of a network for telemetry, tracking and control data by a factor of 4X. In addition, Neurpac natively adds deep obfuscation security. Our long-term roadmap has other benefits that are of interest to the DoD; including intrusion detection.

Neurcom

Neurcom is a complementary technology to Neurpac. Neurcom works on a neural net AI to enhance the capabilities of video and audio codecs to enable greater data throughput while retaining and enhancing the quality of image or audio. Neurcom is still under development with the Air Force Research Laboratory and has demonstrated the capability to approximately double the number of high-density images which are transmitted over the network. The current focus is on SAR (synthetic aperture radar) images. We estimate that Neurcom will be released as a product in late 2026.

Life at Atombeam

Unlock Bandwidth, Security and Reachability with Data as Codewords

Atombeam has the answer in our unique and patented technology. Instead of adding layers of technology to make our data efficient and secure, we transform data and the way we use data completely, to make it intrinsically efficient and secure without compromising our ability to process it directly. We use the math principles of cryptography and compression in a “coder” to translate data into codewords using an AI/ML-created codebook. We then send and store the codewords along an event path, for use by “reader” applications. There, the data is accessed and used through the same codebook, directly in its transformed state. This is what, we call “data as codewords.”
