About EDGE SYSTEMS

Providing Innovative Geologic and Surface Logging since 1964

The Company was formed as Midwest Well Logging in December 1964 by Hoyt Hudspeth and Harold McConnell. Hoyt and Ruthe Hudspeth purchased all of Harold’s interest in 1972 and renamed the company Petroleum Well Logging, Inc. It operated under that name until 1987 when the name as changed to Petroleum Mud Logging, Inc (PML).

The Company’s extensive client base attracted the attention of Rentech, Inc., a Denver, Colorado base corporation, in early 1999. Rentech purchased PML in June 1999. New management was installed and an electronics consultant was retained to design a new state of the art gas monitoring system that utilized the latest electronics technology.

In November 2006, Petroleum Mud Logging, Inc. was purchased by a private investment group and renamed PML Exploration Services LLC. The name change was made to better reflect the long term goals of the company.

In November 2015 the management team of PML purchased the assets of PML and formed EDGE Finance, LLC. Both EDGE Systems and PML Exploration Services continue as dba’s of EDGE Finance.

EDGE Systems develops gas analysis and rig data management solutions for use by it’s own mud logging division and for rental to others. These solutions provide secure web based information to energy companies on a real time basis.

1). MUD LOGGING

Our Loggers are the Best

Our mudloggers have an average of more than 6 years of field experience and many are degreed geologists. Our employees have worked basins across the United States and when you contract us, you will be matched with employees experienced in your basin.

Proprietary Gas Detection

The EDGE gas system is second-to-none. A dual-column SC/TC gas chromatograph featuring constant pressure/temperature/flow, the EDGE system eliminates the multitude of variables and confusion that often comes with gas detection. The EDGE system provides Total Gas, C1 – C5, and Wetness/Balance/Character ratios.

Remote control of the entire system includes:

Blowback of sample lines
Calibrating the sensors
Zeroing of sensors
Internal sample drying and filtering
Sensor health monitoring
Pressure, temperature, and flow management

We are your eyes and ears at the wellsite. In addition to daily delivery of mudlogs, updates, and cuttings analysis, our clients can expect real-time updates during actionable events, shows, trips, etc.

2). REMOTE SERVICES

Remote Services Streamlines Your Ops

We can lower the footprint on location and still deliver advanced gas readings with the same equipment we use for manned logging. Need manned logging for a certain interval? Not a problem, we can create a custom program just for you.

Unmanned Doesn’t Mean Unattended

Remote technicians are always nearby to maintain equipment and provide on-demand cuttings analysis at critical ops. Additionally, we have remote monitoring and control of the entire system from our remote ops center in Houston, TX.

3). GEOSTEERING

Geosteering is Mission Critical

Degreed ops geologists work onsite or in our remote ops center for 24-hour coverage. Consider us the first line of defense.

Experience that Counts

Our degreed operations geologists work from our cutting-edge remote operations center in Houston, TX or onsite at the drill rig. Working in 12 hour shifts, you get 24/7/365 coverage. Many of our geologists have worked for operators in an ops geologist role, so they know what counts and how and when to communicate. All of our geologists have field experience. Our reports are customized to your needs and we also offer nights and weekends coverage.

Our Capabilities

We have geosteered in every major unconventional play since 2012. We have experience with azimuthal resistivity and gamma and mass spec mudgas data. We can provide services from planning to execution to review and are experienced with a variety of geosteering software packages. We primarily use Starsteer, but if you prefer SES or another application, we can use that too. See below for a list of services.
