About Five Star Downhole Service Inc
Five Star Downhole Service, Inc. was founded in late 2015 by Dr. Tingji (TJ) Tang who was academically and industrially trained as a materials scientist with around 30 granted patents and over 10 scientific journal publications in the areas of fracturing, sand control, frac fluids, acidizing, EOR and downhole tools, as well as semiconductor materials. He obtained his PhD from The University of Texas as Austin in 2006 and has over 10 years of experience in unconventional oil and gas industry.
Since its inception, Five Star Downhole Service Inc has been working very closely with its customers on their raw materials demand for downhole tools and downhole fluids as well as engineering and consulting needs for the OFS market and new technology development. Not only do we provide the top-quality material and chemicals for our clients, but also the quick and premium customer service on project and product inquiry and development through a great capacity of cost reduction. Product Development Consulting
Product development is essential to a company’s organic growth. FSDS’ consulting service can assist you with your strategy to create next generation and disruptive technology and products especially on the downhole tools and downhole fluids for hydraulic fracturing. We are able to assist you in executing your projects more efficiently.
Custom Engineering
You can rely on FSDS to handle your engineering needs. Specializing in downhole tools such as frac plugs, frac seats, sleeves and frac balls, we work in collaboration with our tool manufacturers in US to tailor your products for specific applications at different downhole conditions. We will guide you through material selection, design qualification and simulation, prototype development and testing, all the way to final production commercialization.
Custom Machining
PFSDS provides custom machining service to support oil and gas field applications. Whether it’s the varied demands of large companies or small businesses, we are able to produce high quality parts specific to your needs. We have developed and qualified our machine service in low cost countries such as China and Vietnam for your machining needs. For highly sophisticated parts, we can significantly lower your machining cost by up to 50%. Every machine shop has been qualified within the guidelines of ISO standards and/orAPI standards etc. We also guarantee our turnaround time to be the same or less than our competitors and your current supplier.
Raw Material Sourcing
We are also specialized in sourcing raw materials for your project and product application need. This includes but is not limited to specialized alloys (titanium alloy), engineering plastics (PAEK), silicon oil and other chemicals. The process of material approval (and purchasing) is based on FSDS’ own high standards of criteria. This includes quality, performance, desirability, delivery, and service.
With extensive experience in shipping, we can handle all your logistical needs from freight handling through customs clearance and delivery to your front door. FSDS controls the entire procurement process which includes evaluations, negotiations and maintaining supplier relationships.
What we do
During the recent shale revolution especially in the last two decades, the United States of America has become the #1 crude oil producer in the world owing to the great implementation of horizontal drilling and massive hydraulic fracturing. Up to date, most of the hydraulic fracturing operation were enabled through the most adapted completion technology called Plug & Perf. For each of the frac stage, it will involve one frac plug to be used for zonal isolation from the former completed stage and frac fluids are pumped through the perf clusters during fracturing operation. Our products are focused on helping our client to increase the efficiency and efficacy of such Plug & Perf completion in the following categories:
- Dissolvable Magnesium Alloys for next generation dissolvable frac plugs, frac balls and frac sleeves etc
- Degradable Sealing Elements for both high temp and low temp applications
- Degradable NWB and FF Diverters for greatly increasing the SRV
- High Viscosity Friction Reducers systems for enhancing the sand transport through perfs.
