About Frontics America
Frontics currently provides instrumented indentation test equipment and test servers to about 80 companies, including leading domestic and foreign companies, research institutes, universities, and public institutions.
Frontics Co., Ltd. is a specialized material property evaluation equipment company established in Korea in September 2000, based on the micro-reliability laboratory, which is a nationally designated laboratory within the joint research institute for new materials at Seoul National University.
Frontics Co., Ltd. aims to provide Fast & Precise Solutions for Quality & Reliability based on the world’s best technology in the field of material property evaluation equipment and developed the first automated indentation tester in Korea to secure the reliability and evaluate the safety of all products ranging from materials, parts, systems, and even industrial structures.
In addition, based on advanced indentation technology, we are exchanging technology with industries and research institutes around the world and conducting research on indentation technology. In addition, we have supplied our equipment to leading domestic and foreign companies such as Samsung, POSCO, Hyundai MOBIS, Doosan Heavy Industries, KOGAS, KITECH, GE, ExxonMobil, Shell, Boeing, TDW, PG&E, and KTR, KEPRI, RIST, and are constructing a technical network by supplying products to leading domestic and international research institutions such as KTR, KEPRI, RIST, KTL TWI.
Unlike existing destructive measuring equipment and evaluation methods, AIS-Series, which applied the IIT test method, is a non-destructive, economical, and efficient measurement method and it provides a solution to the reliability problem by evaluating the mechanical properties of operating industrial facilities, from Nano Scale in the ultra-fine area to properties in the Macro Scale area.
In addition, we are leading the world market by applying the latest reliability analysis technology to continuous indentation technology development, material property evaluation, damage analysis, and life prediction for materials and industrial structures through the operation of a company-affiliated research institute.

What is an instrumented indentation tester?
The instrumented indentation tester is an all-in-one test equipment for non-destructively measuring mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, processing hardening index), residual stress, hardness, and fracture toughness using Instrumented Indentation Technique. When the instrumented indentation tester was first developed, it was called by various names such as automated indentation tester, continuous indentation tester, and portable indentation measuring tester, depending on the purpose and method of use, and the integrated name was used for external activities and device promotion.
The instrumented indentation tester was organized and classified according to the measurement properties and cases, and the model name was called “AIS”. “AIS” is an abbreviation of Advanced Indentation System and is a collective term for instrumented indentation tester. Based on the characteristics of each equipment and the measurement properties, it is assigned by dividing it by number or name. (Example, AIS2000 (currently, AIS2100): tensile property measurement model, AIS3000: residual stress measurement model, etc.)
The instrumented indentation tester continuously measures the indentation load applied to the material under test and the corresponding indentation depth, and obtains the indentation load and displacement curve. The obtained data is automatically transferred to a computer connected by wire or wirelessly. Based on this, it is a tester that allows users to analyze the state of materials and create a report through a simple program click procedure and it has been established as KS B 0950, B 0951, ISO/TR29381, KEPIC code MDF A370 and ASME Code case 2703, and its technology is recognized.

Frontics provides a test agency service optimized for the customer’s condition through engineers with professional experience.
Evaluation of tensile properties or residual stresses for small-sized specimens that are difficult to manufacture standard tensile specimens, welds where localized parts of welded metal / heat affected parts / base metal are mixed, and specific parts of structures that are currently in operation and cannot be shut down cannot be implemented with conventional test methods. We, Frontics Co., Ltd., are providing mechanical property evaluation services for specimens and facilities / structures in various situations by utilizing the advanced instrumented indentation test equipment and analysis technology possessed by us. In addition to laboratory-level specimen testing, it is possible to conduct field evaluation through dispatch of equipment and professional engineers, maximizing time and cost savings required for facility safety diagnosis.
