Acquisitions and Divestitures

Hunt Oil seeks acquisition opportunities worldwide involving quality-producing properties with significant exploration upside in the form of entire companies or packages of assets. While Hunt typically acts independently on an acquisition, it is open to participating as a partner or as part of a consortium. Hunt Oil periodically divests assets, either with the assistance of third parties or on its own. A proven efficient and proactive operator, Hunt has an innovative exploration and production staff with the capability and experience to operate safely and cost-effectively in diverse and challenging settings. It has conducted successful operations throughout the United States and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as in the deserts of the Middle East and Africa, the jungles of Asia and South America, the deep waters of West Africa, and the harsh climates of onshore and offshore Canada.

• U.S. Operations

Hunt continues to add to its exploration and development acreage in the United States and operates the majority of its U.S. production today.

In addition to the redevelopment of its legacy oil and gas fields utilizing new exploration and development technology, Hunt is focused on the exploration and development of new unconventional resource plays. The pursuit of these resource plays is made possible by applying state-of-the-art new exploration and development technologies, such as long lateral horizontal drilling, advanced seismic techniques and multistage hydraulic fracture technologies.

The company has significant land positions and active programs in the Williston Basin (Bakken) of North Dakota, the Permian Basin of West Texas, Eagle Ford shale of South Texas and the Appalachian Basin (Marcellus) in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Hunt has a new ventures exploration team whose goal is to identify and gain early entry into new resource plays.

• International Operations

Hunt Oil Company currently oversees a wide and geographically diverse group of exploration, production and development activities in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Europe.

Hunt Oil Company has a rich heritage of international exploration, having conducted seismic survey and drilling operations in a variety of climactic conditions, both onshore and offshore.

• Going Global with LNG

Positioning the company for the future, Hunt Oil Company is one of the few independent oil and gas companies with LNG projects as a major line of business.

With ownership in the PERU LNG and Yemen LNG projects, the company has grown significant expertise in a unique segment of the industry focused on commercializing otherwise stranded gas deposits.

PERU LNG

In June 2010, Hunt Oil Company, along with PERU LNG consortium members SK Corporation, Repsol YPF and Marubeni, inaugurated the first gas liquefaction plant to be built in South America. The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant, located 170 kilometers south of Lima, along with a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes and a marine terminal on the coast of the Pacific Ocean at Melchorita, together form what is now known as the PERU LNG project. The culmination of this project positions Peru as a leader in the liquefied natural gas industry in South America, and the revenue it generates will provide further development and growth for the country and its people for decades to come. 

Yemen LNG

Hunt is an important participant in the Yemen LNG project. Hunt's international partners in this project include Total, SK Corporation, Hyundai and KOGAS, as well as the government of Yemen. The Yemen LNG Company is the largest industrial project ever undertaken in Yemen.
