OSP Microcheck
!
Microbial Solutions For the Oil & Gas Industry.
About OSP Microcheck
Where there is water, there are microbes — from drilling mud, stimulation fluids, produced water, proppant, finished fuels, in the reservoir and in pipelines — and if left untreated, they can cause fouling, souring, corrosion and create costly setbacks.
For 30 years, OSP has built a reputation as the go-to microbial expert specializing in microbial identification, surveillance and mitigation.
We support clients in understanding their microbial environment so they can protect their assets and prevent future challenges.
OSP was founded in 1988 by Calgary-based entrepreneur Michael McLennan, who saw a need for improved microbial control in the oil and gas industry. In 2011, OSP acquired US-based Telomer Corporation, a premier distributor of intermediates for water treating chemicals including scale and corrosion inhibitors, iron dispersants and biocides. In 2014, OSP Microcheck and Telomer Corporation were rebranded as OSP to reflect our commitment to provide proven chemical solutions to our clients across North America.
Operating in Calgary and Houston, OSP’s high-level technical expertise provides customers with unparalleled access to application experience, support and product recommendations for microbial identification and control.

b) Testing Services
DNA Testing & Kill Study Services. Leading-edge testing technologies and services. OSP offers several testing technologies to generate quality data that accurately identifies and evaluates problematic microbes and supports sound decision making.
- Biocide Selection Studies (Kill Studies)
Achieve biocide selection optimization and cost effectiveness
Biocide selection studies, also known as kill studies, are conducted to determine the optimal microbial control product and dosage for your application.
- LifeCheck ATP Testing
Microbial identification and trending
LifeCheck ATP Test Kits are a field-ready test used to detect the overall population of microbes present.
- LifeCheck DNA 16S Sequencing
Evaluate problematic microbes present with 16S Sequencing
LifeCheck DNA 16S Sequencing evaluates problematic microbes. It characterizes and provides insight into the microbial community present and its relative proportion.
- LifeCheck DNA qPCR
Identify and quantify threatening microbes
LifeCheck DNA qPCR is an innovative genetic testing type used for rapidly determining problematic microbial populations. It enables the detection and accurate quantification of specific microbes without the need for growth media.
- Culture Media
Microbial monitoring with serial dilution culture media
Also referred to as culture media, bug bottles or nutrient broths – is a microbial testing technology based upon growing bacteria.

TARGET THE PROBLEM
- Do microbes build “biocide resistance?
- How do I know which biocide is best for my application?
- Does my biocide need to be registered?
- Is one biocide enough?
- How do I know if my biocide is working?
- Is a more concentrated/solid add biocide more economical?
- How often should I apply biocide?
- I don’t have water in my system. Why am I still experiencing microbial issues (Souring/MIC)?
