Red Willow Production Company !

Our mission is to create value for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe by exploring for and developing oil and gas resources.

About Red Willow Production Company

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe formed Red Willow in 1992 to take greater control over the Tribe’s energy resources in the San Juan Basin. Since that beginning, Red Willow has diversified its asset base beyond the reservation and now has reserves and production in the Deep Water Gulf of Mexico, the Delaware Basin in West Texas and Jonah Field in the Green River Basin, Wyoming.

People

Red Willow has talented and dedicated staffs that are integral to the success of the Company.  Asset teams have experience built around exploration, drilling, and production activities, and have technical expertise in the latest industry-standard technologies.  The EHS team ensures that operations are conducted in a safe and environmentally conscious manner while fully complying with environmental and safety laws, regulations, and standards.  Accountants, technicians, and administrative staff direct Red Willow’s smooth operation.

Culture

As Red Willow has expanded, we have kept our family-based orientation and employee camaraderie.  A friendly work environment has always been a Red Willow priority: the people here share both common business goals and respect and appreciation for colleagues’ efforts.  We foster an environment of safety and continuous improvement and take considerable pride in being a respected partner, working hard to maintain positive relationships in the industry and local communities.

Southern Ute Indian Tribe

The Southern Ute Indian Tribe, located in Ignacio, Colorado, has approximately 1500 members.  The reservation in southwestern Colorado encompasses about 700,000 acres.  Today the Tribe owns 300,000 surface acres (and the associated mineral rights) on the reservation, and private citizens own the remaining 400,000 acres.  The mix of Tribal and private land on the reservation makes a checkerboard like pattern.

Southern Ute Growth Fund

In 1999, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe adopted an official Financial Plan that separates the Tribe’s core government activities from the various business and investment activities.  The Financial Plan established the Growth Fund to organize all of the Tribe’s non-gaming business ventures.  The Growth Fund’s business portfolio originated with the Tribe’s oil and gas activities but has broadened dramatically over the past decade.  Red Willow is a subsidiary of the Growth Fund.  Other business activities of the Growth Fund include natural gas gathering and treating, real estate, and private equity.

Description of Services

Areas of operation

Red Willow Operations Map

Red Willow is a Tribal-owned energy company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas reserves.  Since our beginning, Red Willow has diversified its asset base beyond the reservation and now has reserves and production in the Gulf of Mexico, the Delaware Basin in West Texas and Jonah Field in the Green River Basin, Wyoming.

Onshore

Areas of operations and growth in the onshore division currently include the San Juan Basin, Delaware Basin, and several projects in the greater Rocky Mountain region.  Red Willow’s activity in the San Juan Basin is focused on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation located in Southwestern Colorado.  Production is primarily coalbed methane from the Fruitland Coal with some conventional production from the Mesa Verde, Pictured Cliffs, and Dakota Formations.  Red Willow operates approximately 700 wells and is a non-operating partner in approximately 900 wells.

Red Willow’s assets in the Delaware Basin are located in Reeves and Pecos Counties, Texas.  Red Willow has a working interest in over 200 wells operated by partners Occidental Petroleum and Concho Resources, focused almost exclusively on the horizontal Wolfcamp Play.

Deepwater Gulf of Mexico

Red Willow ventured into the Deepwater Gulf Of Mexico in 2004 via a strategic exploration partnership with Houston Energy.  Red Willow and operating partners LLOG Exploration, Noble Energy, and Deep Gulf Energy have had tremendous success in the region.  Red Willow has ownership in 14 wells producing from 7 fields and another 8 new discoveries slated for first production over the next three years.  Red Willow continues to enhance its portfolio of exploration opportunities by acquiring new leases in semi-annual federal lease sales.  Exploration agreements are in place with partners in Green Canyon and Mississippi Canyon.  Red Willow continues to focus on relatively high chance factor prospects that are located near existing infrastructure.  This strategy results in quick cycle times from drill bit to first production and also results in high rates of return on investment.

Future Opportunities

Red Willow actively pursues both exploration and exploitation investment opportunities.  Outside sources, existing partnerships, and in-house professionals generate many of these opportunities.  We have a proven and experienced team that is capable of executing exploration and operations anywhere in the country.  Red Willow takes considerable pride in being a respected partner and works hard to maintain positive relationships in the industry and local communities.  The company plans to grow in areas that can continue to add value to the organization and its owners and meet the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

Life at Red Willow Production Company

Not just any energy company

Red Willow Production Company is a private oil and gas exploration and production company owned by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and headquartered in Ignacio, Colorado. Founded in 1992, it operates on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation as Red Willow Production Company. Off the reservation, it operates under several LLCs, most notably Red Willow Offshore, LLC, and Red Willow Production, LLC. It has grown significantly since inception and is now one of the top 25 largest privately owned oil and gas companies in the US.

Red Willow holds an interest in over 1,800 operated and non-operated wells with net production in excess of 70 billion cubic feet of gas equivalent per year. Although Red Willow has expanded operations significantly off the reservation, the San Juan Basin remains the backbone of the company’s operations. The company also has a significant interest in a number of projects in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico and is actively developing assets in the Delaware basin in West Texas and other onshore regions.
