About Vision Exploration, LLC

Vision Exploration L.L.C. is an independent oil and gas exploration company owned and managed by Steve Walkinshaw, a Licensed Professional Geoscientist with over 44 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, lithium exploration, 2D and 3D seismic survey interpretation, petrophysical analysis, field exploitation and redevelopment, and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects. We are explorers, experienced energy consultants, and cartographers.  We have delivered many field studies to various industry clients, ranging from in-depth structure / isolith / net pay map suites and cross sections to sophisticated 3D seismic montages.  But we are equally capable of conducting pure oil and gas exploration in frontier areas, leveraging decades of exploration experience.

With broadband fiber internet access and the latest software, Vision Exploration can compete with anyone, anywhere.  Our home office is located in Madison, Mississippi (Madison is located immediately north of Jackson, the capitol; most of the oil & gas industry that had formerly officed in downtown Jackson has resettled in the Madison-Ridgeland area in the past few years).  What's the difference between Madison-Ridgeland and most oil centers?  From a technical standpoint: there is no difference.  But logistically, we spend only minutes getting to and from our office, thus giving us much more time each day to focus on our work; many of our colleagues in Dallas and Houston spend at least two hours each day just getting to and from work, with frequent delays.  We can be in either Dallas or Houston in approximately an hour's flight time, via American, Delta, and/or United; even New York City is accessible in 3-4 hours from Jackson.  We use TeamViewer software to communicate and collaborate with investors and clients when a face-to-face meeting isn't necessary.  This means you won't be waiting on us.  Period.

Vision takes great pride in its work.  We only claim credit for finding the oil and gas discovered as a direct result of our mapping efforts.  We never take leases opportunistically where another company is actively leasing (also known as "busting someone's block").  Because we are a complete business unit, able to carry a prospect forward from conception to the drilling stage, we are able to compete effectively with the largest public and private companies in the industry.

Vision manages its exploration efforts very efficiently. It already owns licenses to over 3,000 square miles of 3D data and over 500 linear miles of 2D seismic data, and adds approximately 100 square miles of 3D data and 50 miles of 2D data to its inventory each year. Our Program Participants can choose whether to simply participate in the assembly and marketing of each prospect, or in its drilling as well. Each of Vision's Exploration and Acquisition Programs has a clearly defined exit strategy. Management overhead is fixed and reasonable, and certain tax benefits pass through to Program investors. The exploration and redevelopment prospects in Vision's currently inventory have significant reserve potential and represent a very balanced and financially attractive investment portfolio.

As a prospect generator and project manager, Vision Exploration is capable of moving faster and more aggressively than the competition. Vision's staff handles all 2D and 3D seismic interpretation in-house; provides complete well planning and petrophysical analysis; manages all lease acquisitions; and has already established an excellent reputation for negotiating complex land and legal agreements with much larger companies and with sophisticated lessors. Our prospect marketing packages are considered some of the best in the business, and we have exhibited at the North American Prospect Expo (NAPE) every year since Vision's inception. Vision's network of clients and contacts in the greater MAFLA area also provides a steady supply of "external" lease and farm-in opportunities, as Vision has evolved since 2000 into one of the most sought-after energy consulting and prospect marketing shops in the country. Regardless of the area, we've demonstrated our ability to cause drilling activity - and find production - on our clients' leasehold.

Most importantly, the staff of Vision Exploration enjoys an enviable reputation within the industry. Our investors and industry partners have the confidence of knowing that Vision Exploration will manage its business and Programs with only the highest ideals of honesty and integrity.

Description of Services

VISION EXPLORATION and REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

COMBINING INNOVATION WITH MAXIMUM INVESTOR FLEXIBILITY

Vision Exploration offers Exploration and Redevelopment Programs for SEC-accredited investors that focus on the assembly of oil and gas prospects and/or the acquisition and redevelopment of producing properties within the United States Gulf Coast Area.  Investment opportunities may be exploratory in nature but quite frequently target low-risk acquisition and redevelopment opportunities arising from the Company's identification of undeveloped assets within and frequently beneath existing oil and gas fields.  Program terms are flexible and are designed to reflect the magnitude of the Program investment.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Vision's existing prospect/asset inventory represents a strong mix of 3D, 2D, and subsurface - delineated targets

Prospect Participants can later elect to drill their interest or have Vision sell some or all of their interest to third parties

Program terms can be designed to be extended annually if desired

Fixed, reasonable monthly overhead allocation throughout Program term

No "condemned cost" (R & D) charges attributable to exploratory efforts

Prospects or other investment opportunities are proposed in a consistent "AFE" (Authority For Expenditure) format

Program investors can elect whether or not to participate in a proposed prospect or investment opportunity

PROGRAM ADVANTAGES

Vision handles all management obligations, including prospect assembly and marketing

Early withdrawal from the Program is allowed (with certain penalties)

Full audit privileges provided with participation in any Program prospect

Firm control exercised on public or press announcements and investor privacy

What we do

SUBSURFACE GEOLOGY

THE MOST RELEVANT MAFLA / BWB CONTENT AVAILABLE AT ANY INDUSTRY WEBSITE

NOW INCLUDING SPECIAL REPORTS ON THE UNCONVENTIONAL BROWN DENSE LIMESTONE AND THE TUSCALOOSA MARINE SHALE TRENDS

The drilling of many thousands of wells throughout the United States Gulf Coast has yielded an incredible body of knowledge about those stratigraphic units that do not outcrop in the greater Gulf Coast area. This information is derived principally from sample cuttings, electric and radioactive logging devices lowered into the wellbore, and mudlog and sample log descriptions.

The interpretation of this large subsurface database has yielded vital and intriguing clues about the formation of the Gulf of Mexico, the uplifting and subsequent erosion of entire mountain ranges, and the tremendous impact of the Mississippi River and other similar ancestral streams that reshaped the land and deposited the immense layers of sand, silt and shale that filled the Gulf Coast Basin and later became hosts for large deposits of oil, gas, and coal.

The subsurface record chronicles the advance and retreat of the sea across the land, the precipitation of incredible volumes of salt in a once-arid climate, and the distribution of thick lava and beds of volcanic ash from the eruption of numerous volcanoes. There is also compelling evidence of catastrophic global events (such as the ones that heralded the end of the Permian and the Cretaceous), recorded in the sediment layers associated with those geologic milestones and penetrated by thousands of wellbores - drilled not only for oil and gas, but also water and other natural resources.

Sadly, much of this information is lost every day as paper logs and sample cuttings are destroyed through disposal or neglect. The public does not realize the value of this great resource, or the tragedy of its loss.

Since existing well data contributes critical information to the domestic explorer, its unavailability can delay or even prevent the drilling of many new exploratory wells in the Gulf Coast.

When one considers the sobering reality that most of the exploration for new oil and gas reserves in the Lower 48 is conducted today by small independents like Vision Exploration - and not larger corporations - the preservation of all subsurface data should be immediately recognized as a very important individual, corporate and governmental objective.

Whether you happen to be a student, a colleague, or just a curious observer, we hope that you will find some value in Vision's brief Formation Summaries (links to which are shown at above left) that focus on important subsurface reservoirs in the eastern United States Gulf Coast and Black Warrior Basin regions. Vision's Formation Summaries will first concentrate upon those reservoirs that we are most familiar with.  We plan to add other reservoir summaries and items of interest (type logs, etc.) as time and experience allows.

Visitors to this section are advised that Vision's online geological summaries are provided in good faith for purely informational purposes and as helpful commentaries, but have not necessarily been peer reviewed by professional geological editorial committees or trade publications.  Our advice to those who wish to learn more about the topics covered in our summaries is: investigate those peer-reviewed articles that have been published regarding such topics, and/or contact us for more information.  That having been said, Vision is proud to announce that Steve Walkinshaw's most recent peer-reviewed presentation, “The Jackson Gas Rock, a Unique Upper Cretaceous (Selma Chalk) Lithofacies, Mississippi”, was recently awarded the 2018 First Place Thomas A. Philpott Excellence of Presentation Award by the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies (GCAGS).  Steve became only the second Mississippi-based geologist to receive this prestigious award, 58 years after his former employer, Dudley Hughes, received the award in 1960.

GEOPHYSICAL INTERPRETATION

DILIGENCE.  EXPERIENCE.  THE ABILITY TO SEE THE BIG PICTURE.

The optimal interpreter of a seismic data volume is a petroleum geologist that is capable of integrating subsurface geologic data, regional stratigraphy, and geophysical interpretation together in a thorough review of an area. Our approach is to utilize our considerable experience in interpretation to efficiently delineate a prospective target, while special geophysical tasks - such as 3D project design and implementation, and AVO work - will be contracted out to a specialist within our network of geophysical consultants.

We load all 2D and 3D projects into our workstations using IHS Markit's 2D3DPak Core Geophysics software (including the VuPak, GeoSyn 1D & 2D and the Rock Solid Attributes (RSA) Modules), performing all interpretation in-house; we are also cross-disciplined in the use of Landmark's interpretive software. Our workstation is powerful enough to efficiently load and interpret even the largest 3D mega-survey.  In our role as Geophysical Data Manager for Vision's Exploration Program, we exercise special care in the maintenance of our license agreements, field and final tapes/discs, and support data.  Data and interpretations are easily shared with clients via DropBox or Hightail.

We have earned a reputation for accurate seismic interpretation and innovative prospect generation. While we admire, respect and learn from the work of our predecessors, we will not hesitate to challenge any pre-conceived notions that might have caused a potentially lucrative seismic play to have gone unnoticed. Our principal goal is to employ seismic data as a useful tool in the development of a prospect. Key "show wells" - noteworthy for their shows of oil and/or gas in the target reservoir - are also very important. The optimal seismic prospect is one that combines good 3D data with abundant well control and one or several key show wells.
