Subsea Pipeline Engineering was the first of its kind, written by two of the world's most respected authorities in subsea pipeline engineering. The goal was to bring together, in one volume, the state of the art in a form that would be accessible to the nonspecialist and at the same time would provide references to topics that we did not have space to follow up in detail.
In the second edition, these industry veterans have updated their definitive reference book, covering the entire spectrum of subjects in the discipline, from route selection and planning to design, construction, installation, materials and corrosion, inspection, welding, repair, risk assessment, and applicable design codes and standards. Particular attention is also devoted to the important specialized subjects of hydraulics, strength, stability, fracture, upheaval, lateral buckling and decommissioning. The book is distilled from the authors' vast experience in industry and their world-renowned course on Subsea Pipeline Engineering.

About the Author
Andrew Palmer is the Keppel Professor in the Center for Offshore Research and Engineering in the National University of Singapore. He was formerly Jafar Research Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Cambridge University, England, 1996-2005, and a Visiting Professor of Engineering at Harvard University, USA, in 2002-2003. Professor Palmer is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has been engaged in marine pipeline engineering for 36 years, and has taken a leading part in many pipeline projects in the North Sea, the Middle East, Canada and the Far East. He is the author of more than 180 published papers on pipeline engineering, structures, ice and geotechnics, and of three books on structural mechanics, marine pipelines and dimensional analysis.
Dr. Roger King has more than 40 years' experience of corrosion in the oil and gas, civil and nuclear industries. He developed specialist knowledge of sweet and sour corrosion and its prevention by chemical inhibition, materials selection, monitoring of corrosion, microbiological corrosion and the design of efficient cathodic protection systems for flowlines, structures and seabed installations whilst developing the Corrosion and Protection Centre Industrial Services at the University of Manchester. He has published over 80 papers on corrosion issues and has been an independent consultant since 1989 working with major operators and contractors.
