Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary: Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Continuously improving product/process safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluates, designs, develops, modifies, and implements manufacturing processes by studying product requirements based on quality criteria and efficiency.
- Develops manufacturing/assembly processes and operations.
- Identifies opportunities and implements process improvements (S.Q.D.C).
- Defines and documents processes/operations and provides training to personnel.
- Make data-driven decisions to ensure the correct process changes are made.
- Collect real-time information for floor visibility and management decisions.
- Establishes capable processes and communicates process capabilities.
- Proposes, Plans, Develops, implements, closes, and communicates process related changes.
- Serves as interdepartmental project manager. Develops, proposes, plans, implements, closes, and communicates data-driven decisions.
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to Manufacturing Engineers I & II as well as Engineering Technicians. May act as a lead.
- Evaluates equipment, processes, and vendors.
- Compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to leadership and/or a Health Safety and Environmental team member.
- Participates in proactive teams to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 4 – 6 years’ work experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- 10+ years’ work experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering in lieu of degree.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including CNC, robotics, assembly, and automation preferred.
- Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of CNC Machines, machining principles, or assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of QMS, APQP or similar.
- Project Management experience required.
- Advanced experience in designing, selecting, and procuring tooling, jigs, fixtures, mechanical precision assemblies, gages, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of the application of time and motion study techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM preferred.
- Experience in qualifying, validating and documenting special manufacturing processes.
- Experience in setting and managing a budget and generating project justifications with ROI’s.
- ProE/Creo/SolidWorks, CAD & FEA experience preferred.
- ERP system and BOM management experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, MS Office applications.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral or diagram form including Engineering drawings and prints with GD&T.
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
- Must pass background check and drug screen.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in: Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology required.
- 10+ years’ work experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering in required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Work Environment:
- Office/Warehouse Environment – PPE required in specific areas.
- Extreme temperatures for more than an hour possible.
- Consistently elevated noise levels in work area.
- Continuous proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical currents, oils, and chemicals.
- Continuous exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
Physical Requirements:
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
- Repetitive use of hands
- Extended standing or walking for extended periods
- Lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs.
