OpenAI reported in a blog post that its CEO Sam Altman will no longer be a part of its internal committee that oversees the safety and security of products that OpenAI creates and releases. The report went further to say that the Safety and Security committee will become an independent entity and will be chaired by Zico Kolter, a professor at Carnegie Mellon university. Other members of the Safety and Security committee include Adam D’Angelo, Paul Nakasone, and Nicole Seligman.
At the heart of the issue is the accusation that CEO Sam Altman has been opposing any meaningful regulations as to AI’s risks, instead favoring the company’s business and profit goals.
