Saudi Aramco (Aramco) has awarded various contracts totaling $25 billion for the development of its enormous unconventional Jafurah gas field, expansion of the country’s Master Gas System, and new drills. Over $12 billion was awarded for core Jafurah developments, to include works like construction of gas compression facilities, gas gathering, transport, and treatment facilities, NGL fractionation facilities and export terminals.
Another $8 billion was awarded to expand the Master Gas System, which distributes gas to end users; utilities, residences, and businesses. Another $2.4 billion worth of contracts was awarded for new drills. The Jafurah resource is estimated to be 229 Tcf of gas and 75 B barrels of condensate.
Aramco’s CEO, Mr. Amin Nasser is quoted as saying that “These contract awards demonstrate our firm belief in the future of gas as an important energy source, as well as a vital feedstock for downstream industries.”
