SCOOP Regional Study
Analysis of 103 wells
The stacked nature of the SCOOP and STACK plays provides incredible value.
This study provides insight into the connectivity of textural attributes of the wells.
The Woodford shale is an organic rich siliceous shale formation of late Devonian and early Mississippian age deposited throughout most of the Anadarko basin of Oklahoma and is the most economically important source rock in the basin. The formation is usually treated as a single depositional group but is occasionally subdivided into three informal members generally described as Upper, Middle, and Lower Woodford. The Woodford becomes deeper and thicker from northeast to southwest following the structure profile of the greater Anadarko basin. Overall thicknesses range from approximately 100 feet or less in the shallowest areas to nearly 1200 feet in the deepest part of the basin. Woodford Shale thermal maturities in the Anadarko basin range from slightly immature (Ro < 0.5%) in the north to very mature (Ro > 4) in south where the depth of the formation plunges to greater than 25,000 feet.
This study is focused on the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP) located near the southeastern limits of the Anadarko basin. Several prolific oil fields of commercial significance exist throughout the SCOOP region including the Golden Trend, Sho-Vel-Tum, and Cement fields are likely sourced from the Woodford. Recent development activity has required that further investigation of the areas resources be undertaken at this time.
