The goal of the processing stage is to make make an accurate image of the subsurface. One of the products from the processing is a velocity model of the subsurface. Errors made in processing can lead to a noisy image, and to positioning uncertainties of the reflectors, at the same time provide an under/overestimated velocity model.

Before we perform velocity modeling, we have to scrutinize the velocity model along with any valuable well data for cross-correlation.
