Company: Karun Energy Duration: Jan 01, 2016 to Present . 8 years 11 months Description:
Karun Energy 2016 - present ceo@karunenergy.com
Senior Geoscientist Consultant
Editor, Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology (PEPT), (Part time)
- Completed advanced analysis by using image logs to measure structural , understand structural complexity of the area wells, and resolve structural complexity in that section of the field by providing dip data of bedding, faults and fractures. The high-resolution component of image log resolved what seismic may have missed in fractured and non-fractured reservoirs.
- Conducted fracture characteristics and modeling helped reservoir engineers to determine the reservoir characteristics of the reservoirs., Optimize perforations and injections if required, predict and understand the production profile and also to optimize the production, make static and dynamic models of fractured reservoirs, and decide locations for infill or development wells in NIOC.
- Established permeability distribution by the use of advanced image analysis and a workflow proven to predict an accurate permeability in Asmari carbonate reservoir for both fractured and non-fractured zones in Asmari and Sarvak reservoirs. Prior knowledge of permeable and tight layers/zones, helped to take good formation-pressure points across and help to avoid taking dry test points in fracture and non-fractured reservoirs. OBMI Rxo (resistivity of invading zone) helped to identify zones of higher permeability when combined with conventional induction logs and porosity logs.
- Helped to ensure better log data quality and therefore a more accurate formation evaluation in new well by evaluation of the Borehole Condition. UBI interpretation provided data on in-situ stresses and borehole damage information used for drilling optimization, well planning (for high inclination wells), hydraulic fracturing, perforations stability, sanding prediction, and permeability modeling for reservoir simulation particularly for fractured reservoirs.
- Introduced a workflow for modeling the fractured reservoirs by using image logs, reservoir, geophysics, and petrophysical logs.
- Presented field statistics map to prove lack of necessary data on giant oil fields.
- Determined the cause of unexpectedly larger thickness of fractured reservoirs, over the interval to help NIOC to sidetrack the wells and limit the penetration to the upper Asmari fractured reservoir.
- Predicted the index permeability distinct advantage of image logging because of the addition of orientation and dip data provided to reduce the high cost of well testing and coring.
- Utilized image logs (FMI, OBMI, Dual OBMI, and UBI) for efficient logging of other logging tools like sonic scanner, XPT, MDT, VSP and CMR to prolong the imaging logs services.
